  1. A strange little record, but a great one too – a posthumous album that took older Wes Montgomery sides and souped them up a bit after his death! The core material here is quartet recordings done in – Montgomery's guitar in a hip group with Wynton Kelly on piano, Paul Chambers on bass, and Jimmy Cobb on drums – other material recorded at the same time as the Smokin Brand: Verve (Label).
  2. The sound is oddly dim and shallow on the LP, which is surprising since the Smokln' album sounded so good. - by Richard S. Ginell, AMG Artist: Wes Montgomery Album: Willow Weep for Me Year: Label: Verve (, 96 Khz, bit digital transfer) Total time: Tracks: 1. Willow Weep for Me (Ann Ronell) 2. What the best sides of Willow Weep For Me have to offer is not hard to hear: The biggest, most immediate staging in the largest acoustic space; The most Tubey Magic, without which you have almost nothing. CDs give you clean and clear. Only the best vintage vinyl pressings offer the kind of Tubey Magic that was on the tapes in
  6. I've sampled a few other Montgomery albums (my other favorite being The Incredible Jazz Guitar of Wes Montgomery) but this has the best mood. The last three tunes are devine! His lilting, slow vibrato phrasing in tunes like "Oh! You Crazy Moon" and "Misty" make this a winning selection for those who like a little blue in their jazz/5(11).
  7. Willow Weep for Me, an Album by Wes Montgomery. Released in December on Verve (catalog no. V; Vinyl LP). Genres: Hard Bop.
  8. out of 5 stars Willow Weep for Me - sweet melancholy Reviewed in the United States on October 30, Wes Montgomery's thumbed octave strumming adds original surprises to the good range of upbeat and downbeat selections found on this ablum/5(11).
